There is no need to, Stephan. The property was preserved in 1999 by the South Kingstown Land Trust. Do visit.

I should lay claim to the Tefft historical park for historical reasons. How would I start?

I am the daughter of Edward R Tefft (Columbus Georgia) and the granddaughter of Paul Tefft (Columbus Georgia). My Grandfather had three siblings: Louise Tefft ( Los Angeles, California, William Tefft (Columbus Georgia, Richard Tefft ( Anniston Alabama) and Reford Tefft ( Columbus Georgia. My Great-Grandfather was Henry Tefft. We have researched back and have found to have come from Rhode Island. As far as how we got down to Georgia remains a mystery that hopefully one day can be solved.!

Interesting. My first child daughter named Sarah Eliz. Tefft.
Grandfather Harold Tefft of Glens Falls NY. Brothers Douglas, Timothy, Michael, Clipper and sister Terry of Rhode Island. Understand from research the family name Tefft is of Welsh descent.

There was only one Joshua Tefft. Captain Oliver's letter is now lost, but it is more probable that he was referring to the fact that Joshua was beheaded and the soldiers used it to play bowls and afterward it was impaled on a post at Smith's Castle. John Tefft survived his son and lived until 1679. In my book, I have identified Joshua's wife Sarah was the illgetimate daughter of Major John Greene of Warwick, and an unidentified Wampanoag woman. Thanks for your comments, Jeff.

could there have been more than one joshua tefft in colonial RI? Capt oliver's account of this man states joshua married a wampanoag and his father was killed by the naragansetts when he went to recall his wayward son. Capt Oliver was at this man's trial. He heard all the evidence against him. Unfortunately, he only left us with a few statements but they don't fit with the joshua tefft presented here.
